Nurmon Bioenergia

Collaboration on the project began in 2018. Since then, it has evolved from a planned capacity of 240,000 tonnes of biomass annually to the plant standing today, with a capacity of up to 360,000 tonnes.

The EPC contract was signed in August 2024, construction began the following month, and the first biomass was received at the plant in April 2026.

The solution draws on Bigadan’s many years of experience in designing, constructing and operating biogas plants and has been tailored to the specific conditions and requirements in Nurmo.

A plant of this scale cannot be built through technical expertise and drawings alone. Throughout the project, Bigadan worked closely with the customer to develop and adapt the solution.

Ongoing dialogue and close collaboration have been important throughout the project – both during development and construction. This made it possible to manage changes and challenges along the way while maintaining momentum.

Nurmo is therefore more than a technical delivery. It is the result of a partnership that has developed over several years and created a strong foundation for future projects.

The Nurmo project demonstrates how Bigadan’s experience in developing, designing, constructing and operating biogas plants can be applied to large-scale projects – including outside Denmark.

The plant is based on proven technologies and solutions tailored to the Nurmo project. We will carry this experience forward into new biogas projects in Denmark and other markets.
