May 12 - Horsens Bioenergi co-operating with Daka ReFood
In the winter of 2015-16, Daka ReFood constructed a pre-treatment plant for food waste in one of Horsens Bioenergi's halls. The plant was inaugurated in the beginning of May, has an annual capacity of 50,000 tons food waste and is based on a technology which ReFood uses on their plants in Europe, where food waste from supermarkets, food manufacturers and canteens etc. are handled.
As the first of its kind in Denmark, the plant sorts the food waste from the packaging and sends the food waste to the biogas plant's digesters, where it is mixed with the existing biomass and becomes a part of the gasification process.
